5 Easy Ways to Maintain Your Air Conditioner

Having an AC is a great way to make your room more comfortable, but maintaining it surely a different story. Worry not! Here are a few simple tips that will help you make your AC last!

Having some knowledge about maintaining your AC unit not only saves you from having to call the servicing guys but it does help lower electricity consumption too. Follow this tips to keep your AC cool and your room cozy.

  1. Clean the condenser unit

Sometimes you just forget to clean the outdoor unit of your AC. Chances are that if you’ve neglected it for a while, a year’s worth of dirt and debris may have clogged up the cooling fins. That’s why your AC isn’t cooling nearly as well as it could. Don’t worry, you don’t need any special skills, tools or experience. Just clean the fins with a vacuum or soft brush.

  2. Check the evaporator

The evaporator coil is the part of an air conditioner that absorbs the heat from the air in your room. The main symptom of a faulty evaporator is no cold air from the AC system. All you need to do is clean the coil with a damp cloth and you are good to go.

  3. Check the refrigerant level

What actually cools your room through an AC is a refrigerant called Freon. Any unit that lacks enough refrigerant will not be able to cool your room efficiently. If you feel like your Mitsubishi Electric AC does not cool as well as it should, you may contact our technician to check the Freon level and charge it if needed.

  4. Clean the filter

A dirty filter not only impact the performance of your AC unit, but also its energy consumption and the air quality of your room. Make sure you check it at least once a month. However, if you stay in an area that receives more sand or dust or you live with some fur-bearing pets, you want to check the filter at least once every two weeks.

  5. Cultivate proper on and off procedures

If you are leaving on a holiday, or will be away from the house for a while, make sure your AC is properly turned off. It’s also best to cut off the main power supply to prevent the unit from consuming electricity when you are not using it.
